Royal Opera House
At the Royal Opera House, we believe that diversity is about making sure we can attract and develop talented people who bring more, precisely because of their different backgrounds, experiences, cultures and outlooks. It is important to recognise that our history is flawed and our record on diversity has been inconsistent. Making a difference requires systemic change, and we acknowledge that we must learn as we go.
The Royal Opera House follows the Social Model of Disability, which recognises that people are disabled by physical and attitudinal barriers in society, not by their impairment. Understanding and removing these barriers creates equality and offers disabled people more independence, choice and control. In turn, this enables greater, fairer representation of disabled people within society.
